New York historian Bruce Dearstyne discusses an important part of New York State history and his book-writing process.
Prominent New York historian Bruce Dearstyne likes to present history in the form of engaging stories. He will illustrate the technique with stories from his recent New York history books: New York State’s birth (first state constitution (1777) amid Revolutionary War fighting); a teenager’s fight for privacy leads to New York’s privacy law (1903); and upstaging the Wright Brothers: Glenn Curtiss flies from Albany to New York City (1910).
