Program Room A-B

15 years on the...Champlain Canal?

2025 is the 200th Anniversary of the completion of the Erie Canal. But the Erie has a sibling canal which was also built at the same time: the Champlain Canal. The Champlain also just celebrated 200 years, and Brad Utter, Senior Historian and Curator from the New York State Museum, will explore why both canals were built, their differences, and the reasons the Champlain has always been in the Erie’s shadow.

The Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library provides a wide range of materials, programs, and services to the residents of Clifton Park and Halfmoon. We are a member of the Southern Adirondack Library System. Our mission is to nurture and foster community connections by providing the space and resources for patrons to be educated, entertained, and enriched. Our vision is to be at the heart of our community.
