Media depictions have enormous influence on young people’s perceptions of others. Join us as we examine depictions of race in children’s media and discuss strategies for talking with our children.
This interactive workshop builds upon the initial discussion "How to Talk About Race with Children" hosted by Dr. Kristie A. Ford, Professor of Sociology, Skidmore College, and SIS panelists. Through video clips, small and large group discussion, we will use Disney as a familiar case study to understand representations of the “other” in film.
