Clifton Park Town Historian John Scherer will discuss Victorian mourning customs and ways of remembrance that were important to 19th century Americans.
Hair wreaths, funeral spoons, postmortem photographs, and memorial paintings and lithographs are just a few of the ways the dearly departed were remembered in the past. Tombstones located in various cemeteries throughout Clifton Park were also designed to reflect the life of the deceased, and displayed various types of symbolism.
