Transcribe-a-thon: The American Revolution in Context
Celebrate America's 250th
Sunday, November 01
1:00pm - 4:00pm
Learn how to transcribe Revolutionary-Era documents from the Library of Congress.
Join us for a hands-on volunteer event introducing participants to the Library of Congress's "By the People" crowdsourced transcription program. Working together, we'll help make historical documents more searchable and accessible by transcribing handwritten and typed materials from the LOC's "American Revolution In Context" campaign. Engage directly with letters, diaries, and other primary sources from the Revolutionary Era while contributing to a national effort to improve access to these important historical records. This work can then be continued at home on your own time!
No prior experience necessary. Training and guidance will be provided. Adults and teens welcome. Space is limited to 12 computer stations. You may bring a partner to work as a pair at one station.
All programs are subject to change.
